Description
Captivating set of six Bill Stephens for Knoll 1305-U armchairs. The Post-Modern armchairs build upon the technology pioneered by Thonet. The bent wood is layers of steamed strips of wood bent, and laminated, over a form to create one solid contoured piece. The contouring technique developed in the 19th Century was truly embraced by 20th Century designers like Bill Stephens. The simple scoop shape of the chair and the corner-less legs work seamlessly to create this organic modern form. Stephens took the standard armchair and made elevated it with keen grace. This set has been updated with newer lime green upholstery. The back surface is taken down to its black shell, providing a sleek contrast to bright fabric. The chairs bear the Knoll furniture label. Production year is noted on the chairs, May 9,1973.
