Description
Set of 8 Svegards Markaryd rosewood dining chairs made in Sweden. The vintage Danish Modern style dining chairs were actually born and bred in neighboring Sweden. Craftsmanship is second to none and our restoration team did a knock out job on the rosewood frames. The rich, black cherry color is down right decadent. Our team worked their magic to restore the luster of this luxurious exotic wood. Marbled deep red, almost black, veins swirl through the burgundy wood. You’d be hard pressed to find chairs with more beautiful figuring in the grain. No adornment is needed here, just premium materials and an artisan’s keen touch.
The chairs are outfitted in their original Naugahyde upholstery. The seat upholstery remains in outstanding condition after all these years. Clearly, the previous owner cherished these darlings just as much as the next person will. The chairs are marked beneath the seat with the Svegards Markaryd stamp.
Rosewood species is sought after for its density and amazing red/dark red coloring. The dense tropical wood has a tight grain and tends to be quite heavy. Rosewood is used in making luxurious furniture, musical instruments, as well as producing rosewood oil, bringing its species to the brink of extinction. It is quite uncommon to find newly produced rosewood furniture as it is protected by the governments of countries that grow it. The scarcity of rosewood today makes these vintage furniture pieces all the more precious.
