Description
Stunning atomic age marvel of American design. Who needs Danish when we have this much style stateside? Seminal couch designed by Mid Century Modern tastemaker, Adrian Pearsall for his firm, Craft Associates. The Architect turned furniture designer pushed the envelope and redefined the standard of style for American homes of the era. Their Avant-garde furniture remains just as fresh and inspiring as they did half a century ago. Adventurous lines and angles make this sofa a delight from all angles. Top view, profile, front and back perspectives reveal unexpected deviations of traditional form. Most notable are the blunted triangle shape on the back rest, fighter jet style arms, walnut wood molding along the front and best of all the solid walnut triangular legs at front. The sofa becomes one with the space around it. Tapered pencil legs in the rear give it a slight recline for maximum comfort.
Ample cushioning make this a very practical retro seating solution. Couches of this vintage are notoriously scant on padding… not the case here. Long enough, and cushy enough, to lie down and watch a movie. Outfitted in vintage mauve and green plaid fabric. Sofa was likely recovered in this upholstery in the 1950s or 1960s. Keep the fabric to remain true to the period or reupholster to custom fit your own decor. This heirloom quality sofa is the perfect keystone for your Mid Century Modern living room. Do not let this opportunity pass you by. This particular model sofa does not come to market often.
