John Stuart Vintage 1970s Nightstands Hickory and Caned Facade with Chrome Trim

Out of stock

Description

Masterfully crafted and preserved vintage 1970s commode cabinets by John Stuart. We were lucky enough to purchase these pieces from a time capsule estate outfitted with premium furnishings. These hickory wood nightstands are in beautiful condition. These pieces offer ample storage considering their proportions. Each cabinet has a single, removable shelf. The fine finishes make them stand out in a crowd. Hickory is not commonly seen on American modern furniture. The gorgeous honey colored, richly modeled grain is a real showstopper. The front doors are embellished with caned panels and chrome trim. Matching armoire and three-drawer chests are available (sold separately).

About John Stuart:
John Stuart joined the John Widdicomb Company as Director and Sales Manager in 1929. He later became General Manager and Vice President and in 1943 he was named President of John Widdicomb. Shortly after John Stuart, Inc. was formed. It appears it had been a separate company that ran the designer showroom in New York and later in Philadelphia, Chicago and Denmark. John Stuart was responsible for bringing some of the era’s finest Danish Modern furniture to the American market. Finn Juhl, Ole Wanscher, Peter Hvidt, Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, and Edvard Kindt-Larsen are just a few of the legendary Danish designers who worked with John Stuart. Count Sigvard Bernadotte, son of the Swedish King Gustav Adolf, also designed for John Stuart.
