Vintage Hollywood regency capiz shell end table. Not your typical paint by numbers Italian Florentine style furniture. This is over the top glitz and glam from a bygone era of bold, experimental interior decor. From afar these pieces look gold, but get close and you’ll see how nearly every inch is a wax and wane melding of gold, chartreuse, bronze and brass hues. The massive capiz / abalone shells sealed under clear resin are prominent on both tiers. The capiz iridescence and overall texture of these tables evoke thoughts of a Louisiana alligator dipped in gold.
This capiz shell end table is a mix of molded and painted resin, gilt metal (legs), composite material (base platter), and capiz shells under clear resin. Hand written letters underneath, but we’re not certain of their meaning.
