gatlinburg fire victims need your help

Furnish Me Vintage is relieved to report that Groovy Getaway, our vacation rental home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee was NOT affected by the devastating fires that decimated the beloved resort town on November 28th. We would like to thank everyone whom called and e-mailed to express their concern. Unscathed by the fire, we are accepting rentals now and throughout the winter, summer, spring, and fall seasons. Groovy Getaway is situated in the mountains in Gatlinburg in a neighborhood called Chalet Village. That name may sound familiar to folks who have followed the this tragedy in the news. Chalet Village, our neighborhood, was one of the areas most greatly affected by the fires. While our neighbor's homes and businesses burned to nothing more than ashes, our home was miraculously spared. We can't help but to carry heavy hearts when we look at the magnitude of destruction caused by the fire. Authorities estimate that over 1,000 buildings were burned and even worse, the death toll has climbed to 14 at the time of this article. Rescue workers are still sifting through the rubble, holding out hope for folks whom are still missing. Our friends in Gatlinburg have lost everything they hold dear... their loved ones, homes, businesses, jobs, and belongings. Our eyes well at the thought of the hardship and grief these good people are suffering through. Gatlinburg welcomes millions of visitors each year into its community. Mr. FMV and I have never met such kind and genuine people as those who call Gatlinburg home. Please consider doing what you can to help these souls get back on their feet. Local charity, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has set up a fund to aid folks affected by the Smoky Mountains wildfires. There is also a fund to help the Reed family who lost a mother and two young girls in the blaze. Severely burned, and now orphaned, Summers brothers also need your help. The three brothers and two parents split up will trying to escape flames, unfortunately Jon and Janet Summers of Nashville lost their lives and their sons are in the hospital recovering from burns.
